About the Event
Experience an intimate musical journey featuring songs inspired by the mystery of Night... twilight, star-filled skies, dreams. In their fourth annual exploration of art song, soprano Jennifer Rasor and pianist Dagmar Kilian present lush Romantic songs by Hahn, Quilter, Fauré, Tosti and Grieg paired with stirring piano works by Chopin and Liszt. Join us for this program exploring the heart of Romanticism and the splendor and magic of the night.

About the Musicians

Soprano Jennifer Rasor began her vocal training as a teenager in the Comox Valley before completing music degrees at universities in Montreal and Toronto. Her formation continued with the Studio of the Montreal Opera. Opera is one of her favourite genres with highlights including Barbiere di Siviglia, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Rigoletto, Ballo in Maschera, Madama Butterfly, Pirates of Penzance and Elijah’s Kite. Jennifer has performed various concerts across Canada, Mexico and Germany and looks forward to more opportunities to partner with the fine pianist Dagmar Kilian in the future. This concert marks Jennifer's fourth appearance in the York Place Musical Salon.

Pianist Dagmar Kilian studied music at the University of Victoria, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Music and a Master's degree in Piano Performance in the Netherlands. She worked as a freelance pianist for 24 years in groups such as Circle Ensemble, Netherlands Dance Theatre, and Holland Symfonia. Upon returning to Canada in 2008, Dagmar settled in the Comox Valley where she is well known as a piano teacher and accompanist. Dagmar has collaborated as a pianist with Rainbow Youth Theatre, Courtenay Little Theatre, Three Legged Dog Productions, CYMC and the COVAL Choristers performing countless shows and concerts. This concert marks Dagmar's fifth appearance in the York Place Musical Salon.
