$25 per ticket - SOLD OUT!

The 6th concert in the York Place Musical Salon.

Taryn Plater, Derek Stanyer

About the Event

Even in Canada, a country with the world’s third-highest Ukrainian population, Ukrainian classical music remains under-appreciated. Russia's invasion of Ukraine makes the opportunity to uplift this music all the more poignant. This concert will showcase stunning piano and vocal works from Ukraine’s classical music repertoire, performed by Ukrainian-Canadian mezzo-soprano Taryn Plater and acclaimed pianist Derek Stanyer, both of Vancouver.

Taryn created the digital artist statement First Steps with Against the Grain's 2021 National Opera Intensive exploring her cultural heritage through Ukrainian art song, and in 2022, received a Ukraine – Heritage, Spirit and Future award in recognition of her artistic focus on Ukrainian art song.
